Jones Plastic
Client
A nationwide custom injection molder,
offering complete art-to-part abilities to its customers through their
design center and domestic and offshore tooling abilities, through six
facilities located across the USA and Mexico.
Challenge
Across their corporate communications infrastructure, the client had to
cope with issues from multiple providers and managing problems where
different solutions would not integrate correctly. In one instance, a
provider billed the client an extra $40,000, when it was discovered
another carrier wasn’t turning circuits on and off properly. Service
outages lasted for days as different companies searched their part of
the connection for a problem. What the client wanted was one provider,
with an integrated solution, that would have a Network Operations
Center (NOC) that would monitor their network, because they didn’t have
the staffing to manage it themselves.
Solution
Smoothstone initially delivered a TDM IP Trunking solution. Later, the
client adopted a complete solution with Smoothstone, gaining a new
managed MPLS network with Cisco equipment down to the IP phones on the
desktop. Additionally, Smoothstone provided access to a full suite of
on–demand voice and data applications.
Benefits
Unlike previous implementations, sites were brought online quickly, due
to the IP MPLS backbone, and the client received an implementation
experience that was much smoother than expected. Initially, they wanted
to continue the use of their 16-year old PBX and Smoothstone easily
connected it to their network. After implementation, the client was
happy to find all of their applications and services were integrated
under a single provider (with a single invoice) and monitored
constantly through a NOC that they could contact anytime, day or night.
In time, they migrated to a fully-managed solution with Smoothstone.
