LOUISVILLE, Ky (October 18, 2007) — ATC was founded in 1999 by Darren DeMartino and David Goodwin. They met at Cable and Wireless, where both had combined telecommunications consulting experience of almost 20 years and were two of the top sales executives. Following is an Q&A with David Goodwin.
Q. When you founded ATC in 1999, what was the original vision for the company?
A. “Darren and I discussed the idea of forming our own telecommunications consulting firm over a period of about three years prior to actually founding Advanced Technology Consulting,” recalls David Goodwin. “Then in 1999, changes were occurring within Cable and Wireless and the industry as a whole that led us to make the final decision to launch our own company.”
Q. Over the past eight years, what tactics or strategies have been most successful in growing ATC to where it is positioned today?
A. Goodwin answers quickly and definitively, “Continued expansion of our product portfolio and sourcing the best–in–class service providers was and remains a cornerstone of our success strategy. As I mentioned, LNP and the growing CLEC market coverage enabled us to provide carrier consolidation solutions to clients across multiple locations. That was just the first step toward providing more services to our existing client base, as well as being more competitive to secure new clients. As product and provider options increased, we were able to better serve our clients by consulting on a broader spectrum of their telecommunications needs.”
Q. From ATC´s perspective as a Channel Partner, what aspects of Smoothstone´s product, service offering or Partner Program motivated ATC to take interest in and engage with Smoothstone?
A. “Smoothstone fills a void for the mid size and larger enterprise unlike any other service provider,” explained Goodwin. “What differentiates Smoothstone, what appealed to ATC and our recent mutual client (HWS) is that Smoothstone is able to encompass all services under one platform and one invoice, for starters.”
